The National Trust
The National Trust was founded in 1895 by three Victorian philanthropists - Miss Octavia Hill, Sir Robert Hunter and Canon Hardwicke Rawnsley. The Sir John Soane's Museum
Soane was born in 1753, the son of a bricklayer, and died after a long and distinguished career as an architect, in 1837. Soane designed this house to live in, but also as a setting for his antiquities and his works of art. After the death of his wife (1815), he lived here alone, constantly adding to and rearranging his collections. Having been deeply disappointed by the conduct of his two sons, one of whom survived him, he determined to establish the house as a museum to which 'amateurs and students' should have access.

The Institute for Conservation
Icon www.icon.org.uk is the lead voice for the conservation of cultural heritage in the UK. Its membership embraces the entire conservation community as well as members of the public who are keen to learn more or show their support for conservation work. Member groups, of which there are 17 covering most conservation disciplines, are the main hubs of activity. Icon is a participating body in the PACR (Professional Accreditation of Conservator-Restorers) scheme and operates the Conservation Register, a means of finding conservators working on the contents and decorative features of buildings.

It was founded in 1852 as the South Kensington Museum, and in 1899 it was renamed the Victoria and Albert Museum in honour of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert.
