The gilding workshop day will run from 9.30am – 4pm on Saturday 23rd September 2017. The workshop will held at Rodrigo’s studio at Titian Studio, 65 Jeddo Road, London, W12 9ED. Lunch will not be provided so please bring your own.
The day will incorporate basic frame restoration and touching on more complex mould making for more advanced restoration and will cover restoring areas in gold leaf (if the frame is gilded). It will be advisable for attendees to bring their own small damaged frames to work on.
All materials will be available on the day.
Tea and coffee will be available. Parking is readily available and free on Saturdays.

Your tutor will be Rodrigo Titian of Titian Studios, a family run business founded by his father in 1963. Rodrigo was brought up within the business and throughout his childhood, he frequented the workshop, and first learned to gild at the age of 14. He attended his first apprenticeship aged 16 with Fernandes & Marche Gilder and Fine Furniture Restorers and now holds 3 Diplomas in Furniture Restoration. Rodrigo runs regular gilding courses at his London studio and has been a member of the British Antique Furniture Restorers’ Association (BAFRA) since 1986.
He has co-written a book with his wife called “Gilding and Lacquering” and has appeared on BBC2 a number of times over the years. His most recent filming was for “Restoration Road Show”, a 20 show series that was viewed by an average audience of just under 2 million people.
Rodrigo Titian has a number of prestigious clients, ranging from Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace, to the Queen’s House in Greenwich, Kew Palace and Spencer House as well as many other historical royal palaces.
