We are seeking a further highly skilled, experienced, knowledgeable and enthusiastic horologist to join our team of horologists, cabinet makers and engraver. The spacious, extremely well equipped workshops and studios which are situated in an idyllic rural setting provide a comprehensive and scholarly service for all aspects of clock movement, dial and case restoration as well as clock design and making. Present disciplines covered in house include design and making, all work to movements and dials, engraving, cabinet and veneer work, all historical finishing, carving, marquetry, boulle, work in ivory and tortoiseshell, ormolu, oriental lacquering and japanning work, gilding to wood and painting decorative surfaces.
He/she will be involved with movement design and making as well as working on fine antique clock movements, particularly early English longcase and spring, as well as 18th Century clocks including large scale musical automata work and 19th Century precision clocks together with some European and Augsburg work. The ideal candidate will also take on responsibility for managing the horological workshop and other horologists.
A large and varied client base includes the very best horological dealers, National Heritage organisations, museums and important private collections both in the UK and abroad.
Salary £30-45,000 according to experience.
