Furniture Conservator - Buckingham Palace Workshops, Royal Collection Trust

By joining a team of talented specialist conservators, you'll be part of a team conserving furniture in the Royal Collection to the highest standard.

Reporting to the Senior Furniture Conservator you will be based at our workshops in Marlborough House.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To conserve and restore furniture to the highest possible standard, and to agreed deadlines and treatment proposals.
  • To recommend and discuss treatment proposals with the Senior Furniture Conservator for approval by the Surveyor of The King’s Works of Art.
  • To ensure accurate and up to date records are kept on the Collections Management System (CMS) of all work that is undertaken, including photographs and, where appropriate, multimedia, of condition before and after work.
  • Be responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of tools and equipment, ensuring Health & Safety requirements are met, and to maintain an inventory of any personal tools or equipment held in the workshop.
  • To assist where relevant with displays and exhibitions of furniture in the Royal Palaces and in The King's Gallery.
  • To undertake other general duties as and when required, to ensure the efficient operation and security of the workshop.
