Broughton Restorations
Jim Broughton
We have been established in The Vale of the White Horse, Oxfordshire since 1990, perfecting our craft and building on our impeccable reputation as restorers and conservators of the finest English antique furniture.
We work on furniture, clocks, and works of art from all periods and in all timbers. We are particularly well known for our expertise and research into early English veneered furniture from the late 17th and early 18th centuries, regarded by many as the “Golden Age” of furniture making.
Our focus is on delivering a complete in-house restoration and conservation service, maintaining originality, colour and patination.
Our hard-won knowledge and experience is backed up by an extensive inventory of templates, period mouldings, feet, brass furniture and period keys in which to replicate any component parts which should be missing. Our stock of “breakers” ensure that all repairs and replacement parts are constructed from timber and veneers from the same period as the piece in question and with an original patinated surface.
Our customer base is diverse, encompassing Private Collectors, Country Houses, Historic Houses and Churches, Universities and Antique dealers.
The workshop is fully insured and is overseen by Jim Broughton who has forty years’ experience operating at the highest level of the antique trade.
