The Landi Company
Melinda Hey - Specialist in Textile Conservation
"The Landi Company, based at Burghley House in Stamford, specialises in providing textile conservation services to historic houses. We also offer our knowledge and skills to museums, churches, military organisations, and individual clients.
Our services including condition assessments and surveys, interventive treatment, collections care, IPM, annual housekeeping, and display, mounting and storage. The company is part of the Burghley Conservation and Restoration group which comprises a number of conservation businesses based at Burghley, and through this we work closely with other conservators of varying specialisms to provide a full range of textile conservation services.
The company handles a variety of objects, from the very small to the incredibly large, including tapestries, textile upholstery, rugs and carpets, curtains and pelmets, embroideries, costume and costume accessories, altar frontals, ecclesiastical vestments, lace and white-work, painted textiles, banners, and the textile elements of state beds.
Work can be carried out onsite, either behind-the-scenes or in the public eye. We are passionate about textile conservation and enjoy promoting heritage and conservation through public engagement. We also provide guidance, advice and training for historic house staff and volunteers on caring for textiles."
