Titian Studio

Rodrigo Titian

Titian Studios has been a family run business since Rodrigo’s father started trading in 1963 and has been in Rodrigo’s care along with his wife Rosaria, who specialises in painted and decorated surfaces, lacquer and japanning, since 1986. Rodrigo was brought up with the restoration business and all through childhood he frequented the workshops. He first learnt how to gild at the age of 14 by his father and attended his apprenticeship at the age of 16 with Fernandes & Marche Gilders and Fine Furniture restorers and runs regular gilding courses at his London studio.

He has been an accredited member of the prestigious British Antique Furniture Restorers Association since 1986 and was vetted by John Kitchin MBE (then head of furniture and conservation at the V&A.). He also sits on the Executive Committee. He has co-written a book with his wife “Gilding and Lacquering” and has appeared on BBC2 for an Arts and crafts restoration programme, and also on BBC2 for a programme on the restoration of Kew Palace where he was heavily involved with the making and fine decorating of a number of pieces currently on public display.

His most recent filming was for a BBC2 programme called Restoration Roadshow, a 20 show series, which was screened in late summer of 2010 and was watched by an average audience of just short of 2 million people.

Rodrigo has many prestigious clients, ranging from Buckingham Palace, Kensington Palace, the Queens House Greenwich, Kew Palace, Spencer House and Historical Royal Palaces, through to the cream of antique dealers, and many Top Interior Designers. His residential client list is also very extensive along with an array of celebrity clients and he and his team are fortunate enough to look after many private collections.

His most recent projects, include the completion of the restoration/conservation of ceiling panels painted by the Architect William Burgess (in 1880) in Tower House, Holland Park, Kensington, and the restoration of the gilding of the Prince Albert Memorial statue in Kensington Gardens.
